In a 33 to 0 vote of the California Senate this week, lawmakers moved forward a measure to expand the state’s medical marijuana laws.
A bill allowing adult pet owners with a veterinarian’s recommendation to procure pot products for their animal companions. It would also protect veterinarians from disciplinary actions based on such a recommendation.
The move comes after a bill signed into law last year giving veterinarians permission to mention weed as a possible remedy for pet issues.
Members of the Assembly will vote on the legislation next.
