Dems join Sanders in condemning ‘antisemitic’ article about his net worth

A Jewish candidate for the Democratic presidential nomination is speaking out against what he believes were antisemitic tropes included in a recent Politico profile detailing his personal wealth.

In an interview this week, Sen. Bernie Sanders, I-Vt., labeled “The Secret of Bernie’s Millions” an attack on his faith tradition.

“Call that what it is: an antisemitic article,” the senator said.

He was not alone in his assessment.

The content of the article itself was problematic enough for critics of the article — the accompanying graphics only made matters worse.

Several prominent Democrats called out Politico for including an image showing Sanders next to a money tree and another showing him surrounded by the real estate he owns.

U.S. Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, D-N.Y., was among the most visible voices of opposition.

“Can [Politico] explain to us how photoshopping money trees next to the only Jewish candidate for president and talking about how ‘cheap’ and rich he is *isn’t* antisemitic?” she tweeted. “Or are they just letting this happen because he’s a progressive politician they don’t like?”
