‘They’re a joke’: Conservatives blast YouTube for demonetizing Steven Crowder’s channel

Following a review of his content following complaints by Vox host Carlos Maza, YouTube has reportedly demonetized right-wing pundit Steven Crowder’s channel.

“Update on our continued review — we have suspended this channel’s monetization,” YouTube tweeted in a post directed at Maza. “We came to this decision because a pattern of egregious actions has harmed the broader community and is against our YouTube Partner Program policies.”

The explanation continued in a series of tweets and Crowder confirmed he had heard from YouTube.

“Just spoke with YouTube,” he wrote. “Confirmed, the second Adpocalypse IS here and they’re coming for you. More details to follow. Stay tuned.”

The Right Scoop blog and conservative commentator Ben Shapiro also reacted the the news.

“If [YouTube] is now going to police insulting speech — not violent speech, not incitement, not actual fake news — because a virulently censorious, radical activist masquerading as a journalist complains about being insulted, they’re a joke,” he wrote.
