History teacher urges YouTube to ‘undo the damage’ of ‘indiscriminate’ anti-hate policy

As part of its effort to curtail hate speech on its platform, YouTube has recently been taking down videos deemed promotional of Nazism or Adolf Hitler.

In the process, however, critics say the video site is removing educational footage that could warn future generations of the dangers of such radicalized ideologies.

History teacher Scott Allsop said hundreds of clips from his channel, including Hitler speeches, were removed.

“It’s absolutely vital that YouTube work to undo the damage caused by their indiscriminate implementation as soon as possible,” he said. “Access to important material is being denied wholesale as many other channels are left branded as promoting hate when they do nothing of the sort.”
