In a tweet on Monday, he referenced a bill that would wipe out $1.6 trillion in debt for about 45 million Americans with college student loans.

He wants to levy a tax on an array of financial transactions and trades to bring in the money needed for his proposal.

“During the financial crisis, Wall Street received the largest taxpayer bailout in American history,” Sanders tweeted. “Now it is Wall Street’s turn to help rebuild the disappearing middle class,” Sanders tweeted on Monday.”
