In a message posted this weekend, administrators from the site for knitting enthusiasts revealed the motivation behind their decision.

“We are banning support of Donald Trump and his administration on Ravelry,” reads a tweet accompanying the link to a full statement. “We cannot provide a space that is inclusive of all and also allow support for open white supremacy.”

Users can reportedly have their accounts removed for violating the rule, though administrators make it clear they are “not endorsing the Democrats nor banning Republicans” with its new rule.

“We are definitely not banning conservative politics,” the statement continued. “Hate groups and intolerance are different from other types of political positions.”
