President Donald Trump has attempted to intervene in another country’s judicial system following the arrest of U.S. rapper A$AP Rocky.
For former Swedish Prime Minister Carl Bildt, however, Trump’s focus on the nation’s current prime minister is improper.
“The rule of law applies to everyone equally and is exercised by an independent judiciary,” he said. “That’s the way it is in the US, and that’s certainly the way it is in Sweden. Political interference in the process is distinctly off limits! Clear?”
Trump previously tweeted that he was “very disappointed in Prime Minister Stefan Löfven for being unable to act” in releasing the entertainer charged with assault in connection with an incident last month.
“Sweden has let our African American Community down in the United States,” Trump alleged. “I watched the tapes of A$AP Rocky, and he was being followed and harassed by troublemakers. Treat Americans fairly!”
