At least a dozen witnesses of a serious rollover crash in Chicago earlier this month wasted no time leaping to assist the driver of a Ford pickup truck involved.
Orlando Hernandez recalled losing control of the vehicle along Interstate 88 after a tire blowout. Moments later, he said he was upside down and a group of good Samaritans were on their way to the rescue.
In short order, they were able to flip the truck to its side, break the glass and extricate the 32-year-old occupant.
“You know how there’s terrible things happening and people lose faith in things, faith in the world?” Hernandez began when recalling the incident in a local news interview. “But seeing that, that sort of restores that goodness in your heart.”
