‘I’m choosing not to’: Trump resists CDC recommendation to wear face masks

While his administration has reversed previous recommendations and now advises citizens to wear face masks in public to reduce the spread of the coronavirus, Donald Trump made it clear that he is not going to be among those who do.

In comments to reporters on Friday, the president stressed that the new directive is “going to be really a voluntary thing” and diminished the importance of compliance.

“You can do it,” Trump said. “You don’t have to do it. I’m choosing not to do it, but some people may want to. And that’s OK.”
