According to a statement by the Wildlife Conservation Society, a tiger at the Bronx Zoo in hard-hit New York City was diagnosed with COVID-19.
In addition to 4-year-old Nadia, “her sister Azul, two Amur tigers, and three African lions had developed a dry cough and all are expected to recover.”
As the WCS, which operates the zoo, explained, the animals “were infected by a person caring for them who was asymptomatically infected with the virus or before that person developed symptoms.”
