Surgeon General prepares Americans for ‘the hardest and the saddest week’ of their lives

In a stark prediction for the next several days amid a growing coronavirus outbreak, U.S. Surgeon General Jerome Adams said the nation is entering “our Pearl Harbor moment, our 9/11 moment.”

The difference, he pointed out, is that “it’s not going to be localized” but will “be happening all over the country.”

Continuing the grim rhetoric surrounding a virus that has already killed thousands of Americans, Adams said on Sunday that this will “be the hardest and the saddest week of most Americans’ lives.”

He did express some hope for “a light at the end of the tunnel,” but said that would depend on all Americans following federal guidelines such as social distancing.

“There is hope, but we’ve also got to all do our part,” Adams said.
