GOP lawmaker ‘will not wear a mask’ because it covers the ‘likeness of God’

Arguing against the bipartisan recommendation suggested by medical professionals and his state’s own Republican governor, one GOP state representative in Ohio shared the reason he refuses to wear a face mask to mitigate the spread of the deadly coronavirus.

Insisting that the U.S. “is not the entire world” but is “the greatest nation on earth founded on Judeo-Christian Principles [sic],” Rep. Nino Vitale went on to dismiss the safety measure in a Facebook post this week.

“One of those principles is that we are all created in the image and likeness of God,” he wrote. “That image is seen the most by our face. I will not wear a mask.”
