After accusing his predecessor of committing a crime and refusing to provide any context or evidence, Donald Trump is now complaining that his handpicked attorney general is not interested in investigating former President Barack Obama.
“Based on the information I have today, I don’t expect [U.S. Attorney John] Durham’s work will lead to a criminal investigation of either man,” Barr said of Obama and former Vice President Joe Biden. “Our concern over potential criminality is focused on others.”
Trump apparently disapproved of the decision not to look into nebulous claims surrounding the speculated role Obama and Biden played in an investigation into alleged Russian meddling in the 2016 presidential election.
“I think if it was me, they would do it,” the president grumbled. “I think for them, maybe they’re not going to. I’m surprised because Obama knew everything that was happening.”
He carped that it represented “just a continuation of a double standard,” going on to assert that “Obama and Biden were involved” in “very serious” crimes.
