Although Donald Trump’s response to the coronavirus pandemic has been short on empathy and facts, CNN’s Chris Cuomo believes the president is benefiting from his ability to distract Americans from the nation’s tragic infection and death rates.
Cuomo’s comments come on the heels of Trump’s assertion that he has been taken hydroxychloroquine, a drug used to treat malaria, as an unproven COVID-19 treatment.
“Don’t take the bait,” the CNN host said. “Let’s stay focused on what matters. We have to reopen, but we have to do it the right way. How? That question remains unanswered.”
Reacting to the news that Trump had been taking the drug for about a week and a half, Cuomo described the latest distraction as “a winning argument” for the president.
