In a tweet reacting to the NBA season’s modified return, Dallas right-wing talk show host Mark Davis issued a warning to his home team and its owner regarding possible protests prior to the start of each game.
I am so ready to be be in on this year’s [Dallas Mavericks] home stretch: so much promise, so much personality,” he wrote. “But the minute one player kneels during the anthem, I am OUT. Surely [Mark Cuban] can lead the way for [the team and the league] to do whatever gesture they wish without insulting the nation.”
Cuban shot back a short time later with a pair of tweets.
“Bye,” he wrote in the first.
He followed up by declaring that the “National Anthem Police in this country are out of control.”
The team owner went on to offer Davis some practical advice.
“If you want to complain, complain to your boss and ask why they don’t play the National Anthem every day before you start work,” he tweeted.
