A day after facing widespread opprobrium for reportedly referring to U.S. Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, D-N.Y., as a “fucking bitch” during an exchange on Capitol Hill, Rep. Ted Yoho, R-Fla., apologized on the House floor for his behavior.
The statement included a number of equivocations, however, and Ocasio-Cortez showed little interest in accepting it.
“Republican responds to calling a colleague ‘disgusting’ & a ‘f—ing b*tch’ w/ ‘I cannot apologize for my passion’ and blaming others,” she tweeted on Wednesday along with a video of Yoho’s remarks.
“I will not teach my nieces and young people watching that this an apology, and what they should learn to accept,” Ocasio-Cortez added. “Yoho is refusing responsibility.”
