Donald Trump is again criticizing his own White House coronavirus task force.
After taking shots at Dr. Anthony Fauci, the president went after Dr. Deborah Birx in a tweet on Monday.
The condemnatory tweet came after Birx reacted to criticism from House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., who said she did not “have confidence” in Trump’s adviser.
“I have tremendous respect for the speaker,” Birx responded in an interview on Sunday. “And I have tremendous respect for her long dedication to the American people.”
Birx went on to paint a grim picture of the nation’s current fight against the pandemic.
“What we are seeing today is different from March and April,” she said, calling it “extraordinarily widespread” in “both rural and urban” areas of the U.S.
The comments did not settle well the Trump, who used a pejorative to describe Pelosi and said she only disapproved of Birx for being “too positive on the very good job we are doing on combatting [sic] the [coronavirus]” and in other areas.
“In order to counter Nancy, Deborah took the bait & hit us,” he tweeted. “Pathetic!”
