A Republican lawmaker who also serves on the board of Liberty University has had enough of the Christian college’s controversial president.
In response to recent social media posts that showed Jerry Falwell Jr. in a compromised position with a woman who was not his wife, U.S. Rep. Mark Walker, R-N.C., thinks it is time for him to resign.
“Jerry Falwell Jr’s ongoing behavior is appalling. As a Music Faculty Advisory Board Member and former instructor [at Liberty University], I’m convinced Falwell should step down,” the congressman tweeted.
While Falwell apologized and deleted the posts, he has faced backlash for a range of prior statements and decisions — including his response to the coronavirus pandemic.
“None of us are perfect, but students, faculty, alumni and [LU Praise] deserve better,” Walker concluded.
