After advancing provably false theories regarding the eligibility and origins of both former President Barack Obama and current vice-presidential candidate Kamala Harris, Donald Trump this week trotted out yet another claim about a rival’s birth.
This time, he told a crowd in Scranton, Pennsylvania, that he does not believe Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden was actually born in the city. Biden’s family left Scranton when he was a child.
“So tonight, we have Slow Joe will speak at the Democrat [sic] convention,” Trump said. “And I’m sure he’ll just knock ’em dead. And he’ll remind us that he was born in Scranton, but you know he left like 70 years ago.”
The president then offered his alternate take on the matter.
“I view it differently,” he said. “He wasn’t born here. He abandoned Scranton.”
