Authorities in the U.S. are investigating a package believed to be addressed to Donald Trump and containing ricin, a dangerous poison.
The package was intercepted before it reached the White House and the substance inside was tested, according to reports.
Authorities say it is believed to have been sent from a location in Canada.
Mary-Liz Power, chief spokeswoman for Canada’s Minister of Public Safety Bill Blair, said in a statement, “We are aware of the concerning reports of packages containing ricin directed toward US federal government sites,” said a spokesperson for Canadian Minister of Public Safety Bill Blair. “Canadian law enforcement is working closely with their US counterparts. As this is an active investigation we cannot comment further.”
