As Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden appeared to flip Arizona after Donald Trump’s 2016 win, the late Sen. John McCain’s widow, Cindy, weighed in on the longtime GOP lawmaker’s stance.
Cindy McCain publicly backed Biden in the run-up to Election Day and confirmed on Friday that she believes her husband would have, too.
“He’s going to make sure that we find common ground,” she said of the former vice president. “He’s going to bring ethics and empathy back to the office — something that we are sorely in need of now. And like I said before, he’s going to be a president for all people, not just Democrats.”
She went on to say of the late senator: “I know John would want what’s best for our country. What is best for our country is not our party. What’s best for our country is Joe Biden.”
