U.S. Rep. Matt Gaetz, R-Fla., has been embroiled in a sordid scandal for weeks, and the news is only getting worse.
Reports this week indicate that his one-time ally penned a confession letter admitting that the two men paid for sex with multiple individuals — including a 17-year-old girl.
In response, U.S. Rep. Ted Lieu, D-Calif., renewed his calls for Gaetz to be stripped of his committee assignment.
He posted a Twitter message addressed to House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy, R-Calif., imploring: “Please remove Rep Matt Gaetz from the House Judiciary Committee immediately. The Committee has jurisdiction over the Department of Justice that is investigating Rep Gaetz, including allegedly for sex crimes with a minor. This is an untenable conflict of interest.”
