‘Christmas Around Kernersville’ Ushers In Weekend Of Cheer

Locals have already started to enjoy the lights and sounds of the season throughout the downtown area, but this weekend will mark the official launch of Christmas celebrations.

“Christmas Around Kernersville” kicks off on Saturday with a tree lighting ceremony at Harmon Park on South Main Street. The Kernersville Chamber of Commerce notes that festivities will begin at 6 p.m. and The Summit Church will be providing goodie bags to the first 100 people who arrive.

There will also be complimentary hot chocolate thanks to Pierce-Jefferson Funeral Services.

The following day, thousands of participants and spectators are expected along the route of the annual Christmas parade. It will begin at 2:30 p.m. at the corner of Pineview Drive and Highway 66, then follow a route along East Mountain Street ending at Kernersville Elementary School.

Enjoy an array of floats, performers, antique vehicles, firetrucks, and a special appearance by Santa Claus himself as Kernersville sets the pace for the most festive month of the year.

In addition to the support of the Kernersville Chamber of Commerce and Parks and Recreation, local small businesses have put a considerable amount of time and effort into transforming downtown into a winter wonderland. Shops will be open throughout the weekend to help shoppers cross items off of their holiday gift lists.
