Kernersville is home to several well-maintained public parks, and one familiar destination is about to start welcoming visitors once again.
Although Civitan Park, located at 309 Nelson St., has been part of the community for decades, it has undergone a thorough renovation and will reopen with a new focus — and a revised name — on Saturday morning.
The public is invited to take part in a ribbon-cutting ceremony at 9:30 a.m., which will include remarks from local leaders, refreshments, and, of course, an opportunity to tour the new facilities and amenities.
Now called Civitan Fitness Park, the area is tailored toward those interested in health and wellness. In addition to its two shelters, there are tennis courts, pickleball courts, and a basketball court available for reservations.
