“The Heart of the Triad” received some attention from one of the area’s most recognizable media sources this week.
During a segment on WGHP Fox 8, reporter Natalie Wilson toured Kernersville and spoke with Mayor Dawn Morgan about what the community has to offer visitors from across the region.
The roughly five-minute highlight began at the recently opened John & Bobbie Wolfe Visitor’s Center and neighboring Korner’s Folly before Wilson and Morgan visited other nearby attractions.
After touring the Paul J. Ciener Botanical Garden, they took a walk down Main Street.
“A nice place to come shopping, spend time with your family, and when we have a downtown festival — the Downtown Trick or Treat or the Spring Folly — this road is actually closed and this is part of our area where the festivals are held,” the mayor explained. “So it’s really Kernersville’s living room.”
The segment ended with a look at Founder’s Park and Wilson’s invitation to those across the Triad to experience everything else the town has to offer.
“Mayor Morgan showed us some great spots here in the town of Kernersville,” she said. “But just know those are just a few of the highlights. There are so many other things to see and enjoy. The town of Kernersville would love to welcome you.”
WGHP’s morning news anchors also sang Kernersville’s praises, with Brad Jones highlighting the revitalization of the downtown area and Cindy Farmer declaring: “Little Kernersville has grown up.”
During a Board of Aldermen meeting last month, Morgan announced the upcoming segment.
“We’ll have a little local news coverage on that,” she said. “The town looked great. I appreciate everyone’s efforts in helping to make that happen.”
