A recent inquiry in a Kernersville-related Facebook group led to the creation of a downtown event that has been gaining steam over the past several weeks.
Jennifer Collins, co-owner of Cousin Eddie’s Plan C, said her business joined forces with La Monona to establish a weekly gathering of food trucks on Main Street after seeing the social media request for such a local event.
“Musten & Crutchfield graciously offered their parking lot for us to set up each Tuesday,” she told Scope News.
Several other local food trucks have set up in the parking lot in the weeks since the first “rodeo” was held last month.
“We are trying to provide the community a diverse selection of foods each week,” Collins added. “We have had Colombian, wings, BBQ, brisket, hand-cut fries, hamburgers, shaved ice, donuts, ice cream and lemonade.”
She said the location has contributed not only to the success of the food trucks involved, but also increased traffic to some of the other downtown businesses nearby.
“The rodeo is set up in the social district to provide a great selection of foods for the breweries and also provide a place where families can come and enjoy the different foods.”
Collins noted that the support from locals has been encouraging thus far, concluding: “We have seen a great response from the community and each week are seeing more and more people come out. We will continue to set up each week as long as the community continues to support us.”
The event is held on Tuesdays from 5 to 9 p.m. at 245 North Main Street. Click here for updates about the weekly lineups.
