The Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office has an innovative new tool that will soon be deployed to medical emergency scenes.
A new fleet of drones equipped with automatic external defibrillators will be taking to the sky thanks to a $4 million grant from the American Heart Association and partnerships with Duke University, Forsyth County EMS, Hovecon and Aerox.
The public is invited to a series of information sessions to learn more about the drone program.
Last week, the first such meeting was held in Clemmons. Five additional meetings are scheduled, including at the Rural Hall Branch Library on Wednesday from 6 to 7 p.m.
As the agency noted upon announcing the new program in October, this is the first of its kind in the U.S.
