A family-friendly event featuring music, refreshments, vendors, and more is coming to Paul J. Ciener Botanical Garden later this month after attracting a large turnout at the same venue last year.
Favored Conferences & Events President Terri Moy recently spoke to Scope News about the origins of the Fizz & Beats Zero Proof Fest.
“We built a zero-proof festival with signature zero-proof drinks, some friendly competition amongst the drink vendors, great live local music, delicious food trucks, and some amazing craft vendors — all in the scenery of the botanical gardens, where you can lounge all day, play lawn games, and just enjoy the time,” Moy said.
The inaugural event was held in October as a way to provide the lively experience of a music festival without the alcohol.
“Fizz & Beats Zero Proof Fest was formed when our team started to dream about a festival we could create that would bring the community together in a unique way,” Moy added. “Several of my team has worked in substance use prevention or have close friends and family impacted by substance abuse. As a result, we looked at building an event in which everyone could enjoy their time. Couple that with our love for music, food, and crafts [and] Fizz & Beats was born.”
This year’s festival has been expanded to six hours, from noon to 6:00 p.m. on September 28. Paul J. Ciener Botanical Garden is located at 215 South Main Street.
Children age 14 and under will be admitted free and a portion of the revenue from ticket sales benefits the Greater Piedmont Adult and Teen Challenge.
