James Wilford Huff, 34, who was arrested by Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office deputies last month on suspicion of child abuse, is now charged with murder after the juvenile in the case died from the injuries, authorities reported on Thursday.
As Scope News previously reported, the Walkertown man is accused of scalding a child in July. He was arrested on August 22 on suspicion of felony intentional child abuse inflicting serious injury.
The FCSO update this week confirmed that the alleged victim, identified only as a child under the age of 6, died on Thursday. The District Attorney’s Office consulted with county authorities and approved the upgraded criminal charges against Huff.
As of Thursday evening, Huff remained in custody at the Forsyth County Detention Center without bond. He is scheduled to appear in court on Friday.
