Running back Jaylin Murry started the rainy game off right, breaking three tackles for a 20-yard touchdown. Quarterback Bryce Baker, wide receiver Jaire Richburg, running back Cannen Rottweiler, and running back Corey Blair also made it to the end zone, making it 34-0 at halftime.

Running back Corey Blair scores his second touchdown of the game on a 96-yard rush.

“When we get in that red zone, we got to punch it in,” said Murry when asked the key to winning against Davie on Tuesday’s episode of The Nest podcast.

However, the most exhilarating score of the night came from as far away from the red zone as possible.

Free safety Luke Dubrasky recovered a fumble on East Forsyth’s own four-yard line with 5:10 to go in the fourth quarter. The first play of the drive, Corey Blair found a hole and stormed downfield for a 96-yard touchdown. The play boosted his stat line to five carries for 152 yards and two touchdowns.

The East Forsyth offense finished with 135 passing yards, 355 rushing yards, and zero turnovers on the rainy Thursday night. Davie was not so fortunate.

The Eagles’ defense held them to just 101 passing yards and 90 rushing yards with two lost fumbles. Davie’s backfield could not contend with East Forsyth’s pressure, converting only four of 13 third-down attempts.

East Forsyth improved to 5-0. Next up is a road game against formidable conference opponent Mount Tabor.
