Glenn Bobcats Record Tough Homecoming Game Loss

Glenn High School had no answer for the 25th ranked team in North Carolina, losing 44-0 on Homecoming night against West Forsyth.

Not even Joel Hayes, the triple threat running back/wide receiver/defensive back magician who has pulled nine touchdowns out of his hat through only five games, could find his way to the end zone.

West Forsyth is averaging 37 quarterback hurries per game, which is more than double the national average. That pressure was on full display Friday night: Most of Glenn’s offensive snaps were spent scrambling, getting sacked, or being tackled for a loss of yards.

The game started well with a Bobcat interception with 8:06 to go in the first quarter.

West Forsyth scored a rushing touchdown and missed the two-point conversion, but blindsided the Bobcats with a successful onside kick.

The Titans scored two more touchdowns before halftime, making it 19-0, a lead that would only increase.

The few times West Forsyth allowed Glenn a lengthy drive down the field, it ended in an interception or a turnover on downs.

The Bobcats are now 2-4 overall and 0-3 in the Central Piedmont conference.

Elsewhere in high school football:

The East Forsyth Eagles fought hard against conference foe Mount Tabor, pulling out a 35-28 victory in Friday’s thrilling road game. They extend their undefeated season to 6-0 and maintain first place position in the Central Piedmont conference.

The Bishop McGuinness Villains lost 42-0 to Corvian Community High School, dropping them to 4-2 for the season and 1-2 in the Northwest conference.
