Veterans Parade Returns To Downtown Kernersville This Weekend

The Kernersville Chamber of Commerce will host the second annual Veterans Parade on Sunday.

The parade is scheduled for 2:30 p.m. and will feature patriotic floats, military vehicles, marching bands, and community groups like the VFW and ROTC. Its route will begin at Harmon Park, travel up Main Street, take a right on Railroad Street, and end at the Kernersville Farmer’s Market for the Hero’s Welcome, a special ceremony for veterans and their families.

General J.R. Gorham will serve as grand marshal of the parade.

According to U.S. census data, veterans make up 7.3% of Kernersville’s population, or nearly 2,000 individuals.

In a statement to Scope News, Chamber of Commerce President Chris Comer stressed the significance of recognizing our community’s veterans, saying: “They are the most important part of our freedom. Please come out and honor them, rain or shine.”
