Belichick’s First UNC Recruit Is East Forsyth QB Bryce Baker

When legendary Patriots coach Bill Belichick was confirmed as UNC’s next head coach, the news sparked considerable excitement across the state. When he announced his first recruit, however, there was even more reason for locals to celebrate.

During an event at the main campus in Chapel Hill, Belichick appeared alongside standout East Forsyth High School quarterback Bryce Baker.

“Can’t wait to get started on the football program,” Belichick told the enthusiastic crowd. “We’ve already got rolling here a few days and can’t wait to represent the school, the university out there [at Kenan Memorial Stadium], give the fans something to be proud of. We’re going to work hard, we’re going to play hard, and we’re looking forward to winning.”

He went on to introduce “our first recruit,” inviting the four-star quarterback to join him.

“I just want to say I appreciate and I love this sport beyond measure,” Baker said. “And when it’s my time, trust me, we’re going to get this thing rolling.”According to ESPN, Baker decided to solidify his commitment to UNC after a phone conversation last week with the six-time Super Bowl-winning coach.
