The owners of Blue Rock Pizza & Tap, which already has locations in High Point and Greensboro, opened their newest — and largest — restaurant in downtown Kernersville this week.
Paul Riggan spoke to Scope News Kernersville about the new venture and why he is excited to expand the business into the heart of the Triad.
“I have been looking at Kernersville for quite some time,” he said. “And the spot became available and I thought it was a great, perfect fit for Blue Rock.”
Located at 210 North Main Street in the former home of Giada’s Trattoria, the space underwent a significant remodel ahead of Tuesday’s opening, but without stripping it of its historic charm.
“As you can see, we’ve done a lot of work to the interior,” Riggan said. “Wayne McDonald, the owner of the building, [has been a] pleasure to work with.”
He also said local leaders have helped make the process as smooth as possible.
“The Town of Kernersville, from the police chief, the police department, zoning committee, Chamber of Commerce, fire department, you name it, they’ve been great to work with,” he added.
Customers can expect a “fun, family-friendly environment,” Riggan said, with a selection of food and drinks that have made the first two locations popular.
“And with this one, it’s our biggest yet,” he continued. “That’s the third one. And we actually have a game room for kids — but I guess also adults, maybe teenagers — which makes it unique, something to do. So we’re just really excited to be in Kernersville.”
Blue Rock Pizza & Tap is open Sunday through Thursday from 11:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m., and Friday and Saturday from 11:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m.
