Fairytale Farm Brings Valentine’s Day Adoption Event To Byrdhouse Books

Bunnies are most closely associated with Easter, but the Fairytale Farm Adoption Shop is making the case that Valentine’s Day might be the more appropriate holiday.

The Triad-based animal sanctuary, which opened its Cherry Street location in July, is hosting a love-themed bunny adoption event at Byrdhouse Books, 103 North Main Street, on Friday.

“Find Some Bunny To Love isn’t just about adoptions, it’s about celebrating love in all its forms,” Executive Director Kimberly Dunckel told Scope News. “Rabbits are social, affectionate animals who often get overlooked in shelters — and we want to change that.”

She noted that there are plenty of ways to support Fairytale Farm’s mission without bringing home a bunny.

“Whether you’re ready to adopt or just want to show some love by choosing a rescue bunny as your Valentine in our online fundraiser, every act of kindness makes a difference,” Dunckel added.

She said the event “is all about community — bringing people together to support rescue bunnies while also celebrating local businesses.”

Byrdhouse Books owner Jordan Byrd agreed, telling Scope News that she was “absolutely thrilled” to partner with Fairytale Farms by hosting its Bunny Book Club and the upcoming adoption fair.

“What could be better than books and bunnies?” she asked.

Byrd noted that events like this allow her downtown business to “become a true community hub, bringing people together through stories and special events like this.”

Such collaborations were part of Byrd’s vision for the bookstore from the beginning.

“Supporting local organizations that promote kindness and connection is exactly what Byrdhouse is all about, and I couldn’t be happier to lend our space to such a great cause.”

The free event will last from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. and include a number of other vendors and activities.

“Whether you’re here to meet adoptable rabbits, grab a snack, or check out the vendors, you’re making a difference,” Dunckel said. “We love seeing the Kernersville community show up for animals in need, and we can’t wait to share this special day with everyone.”
