Kernersville police confirmed on Monday afternoon that a suspect was in custody following an investigation into a shooting earlier in the day.
According to a statement from the agency, authorities arrived at the 700 block of Piney Grove Road at about 7:36 a.m. after receiving reports of gunshots.
A victim identified as 26-year-old Tamire Christopher Davis was found at the scene with a gunshot wound to his abdomen and was transported to an area hospital with injuries not believed to be life-threatening.
Alijah Duncan-Mckay, 23, was arrested on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon inflicting serious injury. He was booked into the Forsyth County Detention Center with secured bond set at $15,000.
