Sedge Garden, Glenn Welcome New Principals

The Winston-Salem/Forsyth County Board of Education approved new principal appointments for two Kernersville schools ending a turbulent year. Donald Wyatt will lead Sedge Garden Elementary and Walter Johnson will lead Glenn High School next school year.

Wyatt replaces Sedge Garden principal Angela Reeves, who was suspended with pay amid the North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services’ investigation into claims of “maltreatment” by a former staff member this past school year.

Prior to his current position as principal of Mount Tabor High School, Wyatt began his WS/FCS career as a teacher at Union Cross Elementary and served as assistant principal and principal of Sedge Garden.

He holds a bachelor’s degree in elementary education and a master’s degree in school administration from East Carolina University.

Johnson will assume leadership of Glenn High School, taking the helm from Scott Munsie. Glenn was recently in the news when an altercation in April ended with a student being stabbed.

He currently serves as co-principal of Parkland High School, having previously served as principal of Forbush Middle School in Yadkin County and assistant principal at both East Forsyth and Walkertown.

Johnson earned an education specialist degree from East Carolina University, a bachelor’s degree in middle grades education from Winston-Salem State University, and a master’s degree in school administration from Appalachian State University.
