Drop-In Childcare Center Celebrates Grand Opening

Kernersville families now have a new — and more flexible — childcare option with this week’s grand opening of a local Bizi Kids location.

At a ribbon-cutting ceremony on Friday, owner Vondell Davis introduced her team and shared her vision for the space:

“We are a drop-in child care center, so we consider ourselves … on demand — in place of your nanny, babysitter, or when school is out. That’s the whole point of the facility.”

Parents can bring children in without making reservations ahead of time.

“At the time of drop-in, they register,” Davis explained. “But again, they can do that before or during the transaction.”

The center serves children ages 1 to 11, with separate areas for younger and older kids.

“They have to be walkers,” Davis noted. “Our children that are 1 to 6 are in one section, and our children 7 to 11 are in a separate location — that way they’re not commingled.”

She said the idea for the business came from personal experience.

“I struggled from [ages] 0 to 5 not having care until my child was of age to be able to go to school,” she said. “I thought, ‘What could I do to help someone in need?’ And this is it.”

The center offers a range of services including part-time care, themed parties, and baby showers. Plans are already underway to expand services later this year to include sensory-friendly hours and additional support for children with special needs.
