Your Guide To Kernersville’s Fourth Of July Festivities

Local businesses, organizations, and volunteers are gearing up for a day of family, flags, and fireworks this Friday, highlighted by the annual Rotary Club 4th of July 5K and the downtown parade set to follow.

The parade kicks off at 9:00 a.m. at Kernersville Elementary School, 512 West Mountain Street, and will make its way down to Pinnacle Bank, 211 Broad Street. Spectators are encouraged to arrive early and should expect road closures to begin as early as 6:30 a.m.

Participation in the parade is free and open to everyone with no registration required. Individual participants and groups should begin lining up at 7:00 a.m., entering the staging area via West Bodenhamer Street to Nelson Street to School Street.

Please note there is no parking available at the school and no access from West Mountain Street.

Group participants, including churches, sports teams, and civic clubs, must coordinate off-site before entering the staging area. Vehicles will be lined up on a first-come basis without exception.

A few rules are in place to ensure the safety of those involved. No candy may be thrown from vehicles, though it may be handed out by those walking in the parade.

Horses are not permitted, all pets must be on a leash, children should be supervised at all times, and everyone is expected to engage in family-friendly behavior.

Viewing locations are available on a first-come, first-served basis along Mountain Street sidewalks.

The Kernersville Family YMCA, 1113 West Mountain Street, will also host its annual Splash by the Blast pool party for members and guests looking for a spot to cool off after the parade.

Holiday activities wrap up with a fireworks display at Kernersville Elementary’s Raiders Field. The event also features live music, food trucks, and other activities. Gates open at 5:00 p.m. — bring a blanket and enjoy the show.
