What started as a small Facebook group to connect local creatives has grown into a thriving community—and now, its first public event.
The group, launched by local realtor and craft enthusiast Carla Keenan, will host its inaugural Crafty Yard Sale this Saturday from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at Keller Williams Realty, 1407 NC Highway 66 S, Suite D.
“I created a Facebook Group called ‘Craftin’ Around the Triad’ to connect crafters in the area,” Keenan said. “We have grown to almost 400 members in our crafting community.”
With the closing of several local craft stores, Keenan saw an opportunity to bring makers together in person while giving them a chance to share or sell unused supplies.
“The response has been great,” she said. “I have 22 crafters participating and over 200 people are interested in the event.”
The sale will feature items from crafters specializing in card making, scrapbooking, sewing, wreath making, and more.
Shoppers are encouraged to bring tote bags, small bills, and “comfy shoes” for browsing.
“Some crafters may accept Venmo or PayPal,” Keenan noted, “but that will be up to each individual crafter.”
Attendees can also enter a giveaway during the event.
“I’m excited to meet other crafters and to welcome [them] to our Craftin’ Around the Triad community,” Keenan added.
