Honeybee Festival Returns To Fourth Of July Park

Still going strong decades after local honeybee advocate Brady Mullinax’s efforts led to its creation, it’s once again Honeybee Festival time in Kernersville.

The honey-flavored fun kicks off Saturday at 10:00 a.m. and last until 5:00 p.m. at Fourth of July Park, 702 West Mountain Street.

In addition to more than 130 vendors and food trucks, the activities on tap this year include a train ride around the park, gem-mining, face painting, a live DJ, and a “cuddle buddies” station where kids can build their own stuffed animals.

With temperatures expected to creep pretty high into the 80s by Saturday afternoon, a misting tent will help visitors cool off and keep on shopping.

Kernersville Park and Recreation’s Cady Ray offered additional background on the history of this annual event during our interview with her last year. Click here to listen to that episode of “Microscope with Chris Agee.”
