Suspicious Person Call Ends In Drug-Trafficking Arrest: KPD

Kernersville police say a suspicious person report led to a drug-trafficking arrest this week.

Officers responded to the call on Tuesday and made contact with Austin Wayne Bird, 31, of Summerfield, who authorities say initially fled on foot but was apprehended a short distance away without incident.

According to a KPD statement, Bird faces charges of felony possession with the intent to sell or distribute methamphetamine and fentanyl, as well as trafficking both drugs, and counts of possessing drug paraphernalia.

He was placed in custody under a $250,000 bond. Police say he was also given a $1,500 bond on an arrest order for parole violation.
