Kernersville police responded Sunday at 5:39 p.m. to a vehicle crash on southbound US 421 between Macy Grove and Sandy Ridge roads. According to a press release, a firearm was discharged at the scene, but no injuries were reported.

Officers quickly located a suspect, 19-year-old Landyn Everett Palmatier, and took him into custody without further incident. Traffic was halted for about two hours while authorities processed the scene. Highway patrol and Guilford County Sheriff’s Office personnel assisted local police with traffic control.
Palmatier faces multiple charges, including assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill, discharging a firearm into an occupied property, and a town ordinance violation. He was placed into custody without bond at the Forsyth County Detention Center.
Authorities describe the incident as isolated and say the investigation is ongoing. Anyone with information is asked to contact KPD at 336-996-3177.
