Kernersville Fire Rescue crews responded to a day-after-Christmas call at Triad Park, where they rescued an elderly dog that had become trapped in a muddy creek bed.
According to an update from the agency, C-shift crews were dispatched to the park on West Market Street on Friday and, upon arrival, found a dog buried up to its neck in thick mud. The animal, described as elderly, cold, and visibly exhausted, was unable to free himself.
Firefighters worked to remove the dog from the mud and the cold conditions, focusing on warming and calming the animal before Guilford County Animal Control was called to take custody.
Later the same day, KFRD learned that the rescued dog had been reunited with its owners.
