Traffic Stop Leads To Drug, Firearm Charges: KPD

Kernersville police say a routine traffic stop on Tuesday led to multiple felony charges after officers seized firearms and a large quantity of suspected narcotics.

Officers reportedly conducted the stop for traffic violations and identified the driver as Hubert Marion Lawrence Jr. and a passenger as Ginny Kelly.

During the interaction, authorities searched the vehicle and reportedly seized approximately 200 grams of methamphetamine, two guns, and assorted drug paraphernalia.

Lawrence, 55, was arrested on suspicion of multiple offenses, including felony drug trafficking by possession and transport, felony drug possession with intent to distribute, possession of a firearm by a felon, maintaining a vehicle for the sale of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia, driving while license revoked, and driving without liability insurance.

Police reported that he also has extraditable felony warrants from Grady County, Georgia, for second-degree burglary and two outstanding felony warrants from Onslow County for conspiracy and harboring an escapee. He was placed in custody without bond.

Kelly, 39, was also arrested and reportedly faces counts of carrying a concealed firearm and possession of drug paraphernalia.
