Participants who successfully complete the course and skills testing will receive an American Heart Association Basic Life Support CPR card.
Sudden cardiac arrest can happen without warning, and immediate CPR can as much as triple a person’s chance of survival.
According to the American Heart Association, nearly 45% of out-of-hospital cardiac arrest victims survive when bystander CPR is administered. But only about 46% of victims receive the immediate help they need before professional responders arrive.
Most cardiac arrests occur at home, meaning any immediate assistance often comes from a family member, friend, or neighbor.
Next week’s course is one of four scheduled throughout the year and will cover CPR and automated external defibrillator training, equipping participants with the skills to recognize cardiac arrest, begin chest compressions, use an AED, and activate emergency response systems.
Combined, the steps form a critical “chain of survival,” which significantly improves outcomes after a cardiac arrest.
Spots for the upcoming class are limited. Click here to register or to learn more.
