According to the Kernersville Fire Rescue Department, firefighters were dispatched around 11:00 p.m. to the 200 block of Drummond Street after reports of a fire at Tex Tech Industries.

When firefighters arrived, they observed flames coming from the rooftop ventilation system and were able to access both the interior of the facility and the roof in order to keep the blaze contained.

Officials requested a second alarm to bring in additional personnel as crews worked to extinguish the fire, which they accomplished after several minutes of coordinated efforts.

Multiple neighboring departments assisted with the response or provided station coverage during the incident, including units from Winston-Salem, Piney Grove, Beeson’s Crossroads, High Point, Walkertown, and Stokesdale. No injuries were reported during the incident.

The fire was quickly contained, but many residents reported smelling a noxious odor believed to be connected to the blaze.

Officials say the cause of the fire remains under investigation by the KFRD’s Fire Marshal’s Office. Scope News will provide additional details as they become available.
