The annual celebration kicks off this weekend with a focus on connecting the community with local waterways via recreational outings, educational programs, and hands-on projects. Most planned events are free and open to all ages.

Kernersville will play a central role throughout the nine-day event, including with a Creek Week Jamboree at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday at Fourth of July Park, 702 West Mountain Street. Residents can also attend a “State of Our Water” panel discussion at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday at the Piedmont Triad Regional Council, 1398 Carrollton Crossing Drive.

Other local experiences include Frog Walks on Saturday at Ivey Redmon Park, a medicine drop event on Monday at The Shepherd’s Center, storytime programs for kids, a rain gardening workshop, plant kit giveaways, and a film screening at TREX Cinema to conclude the Creek Week calendar.

Outside of Kernersville, events include cleanups, birding walks, fishing days, and educational programs at parks and libraries across the county.

Forsyth Creek Week is presented by North State Environmental and supported by an array of community partners with the goal of protecting water resources and raising awareness about local efforts.
