The town is throwing a big birthday bash this weekend and the entire community is invited.
Don’t miss one of Kernersville’s biggest traditions.
Kernersville will celebrate its 155th anniversary alongside the nation’s 250th birthday with a full slate of events set for Saturday.
The schedule begins at 10:00 a.m., with daytime activities unfolding at several of the town’s most recognizable landmarks.
At the Kernersville Museum, 109 South Cherry Street, visitors can engage with traditional crafts, hands-on activities, and guided tours through the historic village. Live music, local vendors, and pop-up performances are planned throughout the day.
Just around the corner, the Paul J. Ciener Botanical Garden will mark its own milestone with “Blooms and Brews,” celebrating 15 years in the community. A plant sale runs through the afternoon, alongside a wined beer garden featuring Gypsy Road Brewing Company and Stonefield Cellars Winery. Lawn games, shopping, and a postcard design competition round out the offerings.
History buffs can also visit the Piney Grove Schoolhouse at Fourth of July Park for tours from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. and head to Korner’s Folly for Community Day activities including a time capsule ceremony at 1:30 p.m.
At noon, Founders Park will host a community cake cutting with free slices from Cake & All Things Yummy available to the public while supplies last.
The celebration shifts into festival mode later in the day at Ivey M. Redmon Sports Complex, 788 Beeson Road. From 4:00 to 9:00 p.m., the venue will feature more than 40 craft vendors, a food truck rodeo, a beer garden, and live music headlined by Little Texas.
The night will close with a fireworks show paired with a choreographed drone display.
Town leaders say the event is more than a day of festivities.
Kernersville Police Chief Jason Tilley said that throughout Kernersville’s 155 years, its “foundation of trust, service, and partnership defines who we are.”
Parks and Recreation Director Ernie Pages echoed that sentiment, pointing to the role public spaces and community gatherings play in fulfilling the constitutionally protected “pursuit of happiness.”
