One downtown business is offering locals a new way to get work done without a long-term commitment.
Christina Parrish, owner of The Open Studio, recently introduced weekly coworking hours, opening her art-focused space to remote workers and anyone looking for a change of office scenery.

She told Scope News that the setup is intentionally simple and flexible, allowing visitors to get right to work.
“I have a table with coffee and snacks,” Parrish said. “We have our refrigerator right here, which has seltzer waters and creamer in it. Then I have a table for sign-up.”
From there, workers can choose the environment that suits them best. Shared seating is available with other options offering more privacy.
“Say you want to be secluded the entire time in the ‘padded room,’” she said of an isolated area of the studio, “you can be. Otherwise, you’re in the shared space.”
Coworking hours are currently being offered on Mondays from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., but Parrish said demand will determine how those hours evolve.
Pricing is also designed for accessibility, she said. Access to the space and amenities is $15 per person, and free on the first Monday of the month.
Beyond affordability, Parrish said she wants the creative nature of the space itself to be part of the draw, adding: “I think this place is cool to sit and enjoy some of the artwork while you get [work] done.”
